Solomon Ko, LL.B., P.Eng., C.Eng., FEC
Candidate for Councillor-at-Large
PEO Council 2018
I started my engineering career at the age of 15 as a mechanic apprentice on the shop floor, working my way up to professional practice. My whole life is devoted to engineering. At one point in time, though I had an opportunity to change my career to serve law, I decided to remain in engineering where my passion is. I am always proud to be an engineer.
Around 2000 when I was first licensed in Ontario, I was very active in PEO serving Brampton Chapter, various task force and committee. However, with the change in life circumstances and the demand in work, I stayed on serving only the Enforcement Committee for some time. Now, where my time allows once again, my great passion for engineering urges me to be active to serve and contribute to the profession with my life time experience, while my energy level is still high.
With coincidence, my current employer Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA) that I have been working with for 20 years shares the same mandate and values as PEO. Both TSSA and PEO have the similar mission to protect the public and share the same core values of Respect, Teamwork, Accountability and Integrity. I believe collaborating the values and experiences in both organizations, together with my diversity background and experience, I may inspire PEO to a new level of governance.
I welcome questions or suggestions to help serve our profession better. I will be in touch at [email protected]
